A “beyond the blade” workshop was organised by Dawat-e-Islami at The Lighthouse in Aston, Birmingham, UK,to raise awareness among young people about the dangers and consequences of carrying knives. Many young people attended this workshop.

The discussion covered several key points, including the harms caused by knives, the reasons some young people believe they should carry them, and the aftermath of an attack — for the attacker, the victim, and the victim’s family.

Medical professionals were also in attendance, sharing their first-hand experiences of dealing with knife-related injuries. They provided guidance on what to do if you witness a stabbing, as well as practical advice on how to offer immediate medical assistance until emergency services arrive.

Special guests included Haji Imran Attari (Head of the Central Advisory Board of Dawat-e-Islami), Wasim Ali (Deputy Police Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands), a trauma doctor, youth workers, and others.
